Here's why our Filtration System is ideal for fresh coffee providers, from cafes, restaurants and hotels.
The Problem
One of the least talked about problems in the catering industry, especially cafés which specialise in freshly ground coffee is that fact that about 20% of the coffee grind “knock out” has to be rinsed under a running tap with the grinds and oily residue going down the drains. In a busy outlet serving up to 700 cups a day (National Coffee Association 2020) that’s a lot of washed-away grind. However, the grind and oils aren’t always fully washed away, especially in city and town centre locations where the drains are Victorian and crumbling. This leads to blocked drains and residual unpleasant smells.
The Solution
The Coffee Tech filtration system is a specially designed compact piece of equipment that will catch all those coffee grinds and with its additional grease barrier, it is only clean water which come out into the drains system. The micron mesh capture system is unique to Coffee Tech, the unit itself is easily emptied and cleaned. The grind and other small residues which might be in the sink can then be cleanly transferred to the food waste collection bins.
The Result
One of our Coffee Tech customers has a café in central Edinburgh where the buildings are pre-Victorian and the drain systems very unreliable. He didn’t realise he actually had a problem until a very expensive and inconvenient call to the drain cleaning company. A build-up of grinds and oily residue left him worried until he heard about a Coffee Tech. Being an ‘Old Town’ venue there wasn’t much room in the kitchen area but the compact size of the unit meant that installation under the sink area was simple.
